ms quad-core processor for next flagship Galaxy smartphone

Samsung on Thursday confirmed that a new Galaxy S Smartphone set to be unveiled next week will be powered by a quad-core Exynos 4 Quad processor

The South Korean consumer electronics maker has been teasing the upcoming Galaxy device ahead of a Mobile Unpacked event in London on May 3. The handset is expected to be the third-generation of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone.

The company has released information about the new processor for the device in a bid to attract interest from other handset makers, Reuters reports.

Already in mass production, the Exynos 45 Quad chip features four of ARM"s Cortex A9 cores. Clocked at 1.4GHz, the processor will be about "twice as powerful while using 20 percent less power," MacNN noted the company as saying. Steve Jobs" Plan for a Willy Wonka-Style Celebration of the Millionth iMac

Steve Jobs

livka Among the many anecdotes about Steve Jobs included in Ken Segall"s new book, Insanely Simple: The Obsession That Drives Apple"s Success, one in particular stands out for its glimpse into Jobs" character, providing evidence of his willingness to engage in playful ideas when the mood suited him. The story takes place relatively soon after the launch of the original iMac, with Jobs wanting to find a high-profile way to celebrate the sale of the millionth one to mark Apple"s comeback from the dead.

Steve"s idea was to do a Willy Wonka with it. Just as Wonka did in the movie, Steve wanted to put a golden certificate representing the millionth iMac inside the box of one iMac, and publicize that fact. Whoever opened the lucky iMac box would be refunded the purchase price and be flown to Cupertino, where he or she (and, presumably, the accompanying family) would be taken on a tour of the Apple campus. UDID data willl see 24% less ad revenue, study says

A study conducted by mobile ad server MoPub claims that by rejecting apps that use UDID data, Apple is effectively cutting off around 24 percent of developer ad revenue.

MoPub notes that because mobile advertisers use unique device identifier (UDID) data to track an ad"s effectiveness to create pricing models, the removal of such a tool would likely result in app developers losing nearly a quarter of all ad revenue, according to a Wednesday report from MacWorld UK.

In the traditional mobile ad system, iOS app publishers use UDID data as both a means of performance measurement and monetization while advertisers rely on the data to see how well an ad converts into an action like downloads or click-throughs. The ad companies are basically testing an advertsiement"s effectiveness and value to decide how much to pay app publishers for ad space.

“The move away from UDIDs threatens advertising revenue that many publishers depend on in order to support their...
