Apple gives retail responsibility to CFO Peter Oppenheimer
Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer has been given temporary leadership of the company"s retail division while the search for Ron Johnson"s replacement continues. It was reported on Friday that Oppenheimer will be taking on the duties of former retail chief Ron Johnson"s as a temporary stopgap while the company continues its search for a suitable replacement, claims 9to5Mac.
Oppenheimer"s title as Senior Vice President and CFO has not changed, and he is expected to add the responsibility of heading retail operations to his daily duties. Despite not having a background in retail, the financial guru can rely on his vast experience as an executive to handle the retail team in lieu of Apple finding a new VP.
Under Oppenheimer will be three division veterans who worked with Johnson to create what has become one of the actively seeking a new retail boss since June, and hired executive search firm Egon Zehnder International in August to help in its worldwide hunt.
