2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit App Adds Video, Music, and 360º Views to iPad

If you’re a guy that happens to be celebrating Single’s Awareness Day instead of Valentine’s Day, well, Sports Illustrated has a special treat for you, with its timely release of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2012 edition.

The new cover features model Kate Upton, and the iPad version of the magazine has more than 150 photos and two hours of video. You’ll also find a 360º view of bodypainted athletes, with an interactive music section and a swimsuit style guide on the Sports Illustrated website.

“You will see innovation on every Swimsuit platform this year,” said Terry McDonell, Editor of the Time Inc. Sports Group. “The magazine tablet app showcases the highest levels of photography through scrolling-panoramic sequences, we created a new music section on SI.com, and on your iPad and iPhone the 360º views of bodypaint will offer an entirely new perspective on Swimsuit.”

The iPad version of the Swimsuit edition will also come with video Q&As with each model, behind the scenes footage of the bodypainting shoot, on-location videos from some of the most gorgeous places in the world, and a collection of songs called “Beauties and the Beats,” from bands like Black Lips, Delta Spirit, and White Denim.
