Apple’s TV Set Rumors: Three Additional Suppliers To Join The Team

On the heals of recent reports that Apple has been meeting with media executives regarding their plans for a television set, dubbed iTV, DigiTimes has received additional information about who will be supplying components.

Apple’s “freinemy” Samsung Electronics, as well as Sharp, will be at that party. New rumors suggest that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Advanced Semiconductor Engineer (ASE) and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) are also in line to win orders from the computer giant.

Foxconn Electronics, Apple’s go-to manufacturing company is the likely candidate for assembling the iTV. Although Apple has been known to branch out from the norm in an effort to fill large orders when Foxconn needs a helping hand.

The biggest unknown of all right now is when. When will the iTV make it to consumer shelves? Most reports point to a late 2012 or early 2013 release. DigiTimes sources say that Apple will be placing orders for the customized chips and other components directly with its contract manufacturers and added to the confirmation that the iTV will be rolled out by the end of 2012.
