Download the 25 Billionth App and Win $10,000
Apple’s App Store is about to hit 25 billion downloads and to celebrate this milestone, the company is giving away a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the lucky person who manages to be at the right place at the right time.
It was around this time last year that Apple hit the 10 billion download milestone, a feat that took the company more than two and a half years to reach. This time, it took less than half the time to get one-and-a-half times as many downloads. The winner of Apple’s 10 billionth app contest was Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, UK who downloaded Paper Gilder on January 22, 2011.

The countdown has started. And there’s going to be a winner. Browse this selection of the App Store’s most popular offerings-as determined by you- since our July 2008 launch. As the 25 billionth download approaches, we want to say thank you. Download any of the more than 550,000 apps on the App Store for your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad- if you download the 25 billionth app, you could win a $10,000 App Store Gift Card.
All users have to do to enter to win is download an app. Non-purchase entries are possible by submitting an entry form from the company’s website. No more than 25 downloads are allowed to qualify as entries per day.
Considering how fast it took to go from 10 billion to 25 billion, it will be a matter of days, maybe even hours before the golden download happens. In fact, the countdown ticker shows that about 1,000 apps are downloaded every second. Good Luck, everyone.
