IOS Growing By Leaps and Bounds, Blame it on iPad

According to a survey released by Good Technology (PDF link), the iPad is the driving force behind a massive growth of Apple’s mobile operating system, especially among enterprise customers. I didn’t need a survey to tell me that. Based on the hours and hours it took me to update to iOS 5 last week, I’d say it’s popular among everyone in the world.
Good Technology is a company dedicated to push e-mail and device management along with security products for mobile phones and lists 49 of the Fortune 100 companies as clients.
ZDNet summarized the main points of Good Technology’ survey:
iOS tablets represent over 96 percent of total tablet activations Android tablets increased slightly to 4 percent of overall tablet activations for the quarter iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch), accounted for over 70 percent of activations Android smartphones represented nearly 39 percent of all smartphone activations, whereas the iPhone nabbed 61 percent Among the top 10 industry verticals, financial services continued to see the highest level of iPad activation, accounting for 46 percent for the quarter—more than tripling the amount of activation in any other industryIt is clear from the survey that enterprise users love the iPad, and more specifically, the Financial Service Industry is enamored. The iPhone 4S has proven to be a huge hit, despite the rumblings of disappointment earlier in the month. A third generation iPad is rumored to be in production and ready for release in the first half of 2012. There is no question that Apple’s mobile operating system is growing in popularity. Based on all of this growth, you should be prepared to spend half a day updating to iOS 6 whenever it comes out next year.
