IPad 2S Case Hints at iPad 3 Design?

IPad 2S Case Hints at iPad 3 Design?

Case makers have begun to work on cases that are tailored to the design of the next generation iPad, in an attempt to get ahead of the competition. Guessing right could provide a case manufacturer with a slew of accessories that work on release day, while guessing wrong will leave a case maker with boxes of unusable merchandise.

Accessory maker Chinee has decided to roll the dice and build designs that are based on the descriptions of the next generation iPad that have leaked out thus far.

The “iPad 2S” cases are 1mm thicker than the iPad 2 cases, but otherwise, remain cosmetically identical to them.

Chinee says that the designs it is using have come directly from details from Apple’s own supply chain, and if that’s true, the next generation iPad could end up looking exactly like the iPad 2 with little change in the form factor. This does coincide with other reports, and although the iPad 3 may not feature a significant re-design, it will have other feature-rich improvements like an improved processor and a high resolution display.

And of course, case makers who gamble with early case creation don’t always end up being right. Last year, we saw several iPhone 5 prototype cases that were supposedly based on the same insider information, but the iPhone 5 itself never materialized, completely invalidating the credibility of the manufacturers. But, from time to time, case makers who receive ill-obtained blueprints have revealed valid information about iDevices before they’re released.

So while this could be hinting at what the next generation iPad will look like, there’s no way of knowing for sure until we see Apple’s version in March.
