IPad Helps Put Burglar Behind Bars and Saves Christmas

IPad Helps Put Burglar Behind Bars and Saves Christmas

If you haven’t put Find My iPhone on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch yet, this story may just give you the motivation you need to get it downloaded and set up.

At 3:30 a.m. on Christmas morning, a man in Westlake Village, California woke up to the disturbing sound of an intruder inside his home. He confronted the burglar and chased him a short distance before the thief got away.

Unfortunately for the intruder, he happened to take the man’s Apple iPad. An iPad that had Find My iPhone on it, so unbeknownst to the thief, he was being tracked from the moment he left the apartment with the stolen tablet. The police quickly arrived on the scene thanks to the iPad’s tracking feature and were able to arrest the perpetrator, a 20-year-old named Patrick Krewson.

A search of Krewson’s Vista apartment unearthed a horde of stolen goods, including two flat screen TV’s, a laptop, and a pile of Christmas gifts that were taken from the apartment of a young mother with three children. The gifts and electronics were returned to the mother, who wept with joy. Christmas was saved for all except Krewson, who spent his holiday in jail, thanks to the iPad.

This all sounds like a modern day retelling of the Grinch, except it’s the iPad that’s the hero. That man in Westlake Village needs to get his iPad a cape. So, the moral here? Don’t let your iPad go unprotected. If you don’t have Find My iPhone, this is an excellent reason to download it.
