Infinity Blade Franchise Hits $30 Million Milestone In Just One Year

The creative team of Epic Games and ChAIR Entertainment announced today that its franchise of Infinity Blade has surpassed the $30 million mark in just one year of the introduction of the original iOS game.
Unreal Engine technology has set a higher bar for the gaming industry and with the success of Infinity Blade it is likely we will see more games of this caliber for the iPad and other mobile devices.
The release of Infinity Blade II took only a single month to reach the $5 million milestone and both games have amassed over $23 million in revenue alone. The additional revenue comes from sales of the digital novel Infinity Blade: Awakening, the soundtrack and an arcade cabinet version.
Mobile devices have been a way for casual gamers to play pick-up games while waiting in line at the DMV, or for hardcore gamers to get a fix while waiting in line to buy Skyrim, but, historically, have not been a means to high-quality deeply involved gaming. As the iPad grows in popularity and tablets begin to implement better technology, like HD graphics and the much talked about quad-core processors, gaming will become bigger and better, possibly replacing the living room consoles as the way to play.
The success of the Infinity Blade franchise is sure to catch the eye of game developers that have yet to dip into the mobile gaming market. Hopefully, the future of high-quality games has a place in the touch screen world.
