Multiple iPad 3 Rumors Show New iPad in Summer 2012 and a New Product Line?
iPad in Summer 2012 and a New Product Line? " >Rumors might just be what Apple distributes best, even if they aren’t coming from the company directly. With the iPhone launch behind us and the next versions of everything feeling a little less certain, we are all starting to wonder what Apple has in store for us next year.
Most predictions agree that an iPad 3 is in the works with most of those agreeing that it will be seen in March. New reports seem to suggest that it might be the summer before new iPad hardware is seen though, which may indicate bigger changes to the unit than we were otherwise expecting.
Initial speculation seemed to say that the next iPad would see minimal changes with slimmer construction and a longer lasting battery. Others say the screen resolution will be much improved and we will see back-lighting. Others still are looking for better cameras (front and back) and a microphone suitable for use with Suri. It might be selfish of me, but I’d like to see all of those things.
If Digitimes is correct, there will be two iPad launches next year starting with a subtle upgrade first and followed by a more substantial change later on. Anything is possible but it would go against the ‘once a year’ upgrade schedule all other iOS devices have always followed, making it seem unlikely.
The other products in Apple’s lineup are expected to see major redesigns next year, with overhauls expected for the iMac, iPhone and MacBook Air. Given the availability of Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge processors it seems wise to expect that these devices will see slimmer and more powerful designs running off this cooler running hardware.
I’m wondering why the MacBook Pro hasn’t been mentioned. It may go without saying that this product would get a facelift as well, but I’m starting to wonder if the MacBook Air isn’t going to become powerful enough to dissolve the need for a Pro.
