PBS Offers Advanced Screening Of “The Fabric Of The Cosmos” On iPad

PBS has recently announced that it will air the first episode of Brian Greene’s “The fabric of the Cosmos” today, October 25, on its free iOS app, one week before its scheduled broadcast.

From a press release by PBS:

“On mobile, viewers get a sneak preview of the series’ futuristic concepts and graphics leading up to the broadcast premiere and can continue their scientific exploration throughout the series.”

The premier episode of PBS’ new scientific exploration documentary is scheduled for November 2, and each of its four parts will play every Wednesday through the end of November. Each episode will be streamed on video.pbs.org, and can be purchased on iTunes or on DVD and Blu-ray at shoppbs.org.

“The Fabric of the Cosmos” is a four-part series that takes viewers on “a mind-bending reality check and journeys to the frontiers of physics to see how scientists are piecing together the most complete picture yet of space, time and the universe.” It touches on such subjects as time travel, teleportation, quantum mechanics, entanglement, multiverses and the holographic universe.

This is not the first time that PBS has made available exclusive, advanced screening of upcoming shows. In September, the media channel released the highly anticipated Ken Burns’ four-part series, Prohibition. The free PBS app for iPad offers hundreds of hours of video content, including full-length programing, as well as calendars, schedules and reminder alerts and iCal syncing. Pick it up today in the App Store and feel privileged to watch the premier episode of “The Fabric of the Cosmos” before your friends do, unless they have the PBS app, too.
