Big name companies are often threatened by the under hand dealings of their competitors. Sometimes all sorts of espionage happen in the business world. Because billions of dollars are on the line, people at this level would almost do anything to ensure that their companies stay at the top and have the largest customer base; if they cannot get all of it.
This leads us to the whole debacle surrounding the iPhone 5. There is no a mammoth legal battle between Apple and Samsung. All sorts of allegations are being flung across the lines, and courts all over the continents are filled with their lawsuits. This might be a match that will take many years to sort through. By then another brand might sneak in and take the lead. One never knows. But let us examine what the issues are between these two rivals.
So it started off when the South Korean company, Samsung filed suit against Apple. They had serious allegations about the iPhone 5. The purpose of the suit was to have an injunction in South Korea against the release of the new phone. This was reported by the Korea Times. It is said that Apple violated the wireless technology-related patents for Samsung. This would make it next to impossible for Apple to sell any of their I-products. It would have to be done under Samsung patents.
In another court in Germany; Samsung saw their Galaxy series of tablets banned so they had to appeal the decision. So Samsung went on the defensive in Australia. Apple claims that Samsung has gone against the intellectual property rights. This is as it relates to the tablet. A ban was granted in Australia. Samsung did not take this lying down and they too filed motions against their competitor claiming that the iPad and iPhone 5 breached seven of Samsung’s patents. The Samsung Company released a statement that it has been around a long time and had a reputation of making high quality, innovative products. They have put lots of money into their research and development efforts so that they will always have cutting edge and innovatively designed products.
No less than 20 lawsuits around the globe have been filed by Apple and Samsung. These include countries such as USA, Japan, France and South Korea. Then in the Netherlands another court has none of the Samsung products could be sold there because of the patent infringements. Apple’s claim is that Samsung’s Galaxy line which includes tablets and phones are a direct take from the iPad and iPhone 5. They have mimicked the functionality and design. It is certainly a battle between not only engineers, but lawyers from both sides.

The official date of the iPhone launch has been decided by Apple. We assume that this will be the iPhone 5 release date announcement but one never knows. It was quite a cryptic announcement and no specific details were given. All that was said was that journalists should be at a ‘Special event’. They kept all information to themselves and said nothing more as to what exactly would take place. We can only assume that it is something big. This event is scheduled to take place at the Cupertino HQ; belonging to the company it is at a programming joke address, 1, Infinite Loop. Not many people get to go to this location. Getting an invite just to be at Apple’s home turf would be a big deal in and of itself; for the media. All other events that they have kept have been at other nearby conference locations.
Another indication of a pending significant event is the fact that the employees of Apple have been ‘banned’ from having any holidays. This will be only for the two first weeks in October; for the American team. Everyone, especially tech insiders, are thinking that by the 14th of October the new product will be on store shelves. So every indication is leaning towards a gadgets iPhone 5 release date in October.
Insiders in the technology industry do not believe it will be an announcement for a new iPad. They are more inclined to believe that it is time for the iPhone 5. Many are stipulating that there will be two models. The first is said to have an A5 processor which is also in the iPad 2 and the second model which is cheaper will have lesser geeky features.
One of the biggest hints came from an Apple Computer member of the board; Al Gore. What he said has everyone believing that iPhone 5 release date will be in October. It has also shored up beliefs that there will indeed be two models of the phone coming in October. In South Africa, at a conference, Mr. Gore’s statements gave some credibility to the rumors that we have been hearing about the iPhone most recently.

This occasion is special because it will be the first major production under the leadership of the new CEO, Tim Cook. He took over after co-founder Steve Jobs left his CEO post.
